Task: To which extent does this teacher 'guide' the learners through the lesson?
This teacher does not guide the learners through the lesson at all. It rather seems that he accidentally had come up with the topic of animal breeding what is a very important topic to debate for him. Thus, he wants to convey his opinion to his students by naming some facts coming to his mind without being aware of a clear sentence structure and a learner-friendly modified language.
Instead of being able to follow the content, the students only focus on new vocabulary they get confronted with and even when the teacher is interrupted by questions concerning the spelling of certain words, he doesn't recognize that the topic and his way of presenting it are much too complex for his students.
Task: What about the learners? Will they feel lost, and what could the teacher do about it?
Since the students cannot follow the teacher's talk as he talks just how it comes to his mind, they will definitely feel lost. Furthermore, the teacher uses too many new words unnkown to the students. If the teacher wouldn't have acted that spontaneously and would have planned the lesson and the topic's presentation beforehand, he could have introduced the students to new vocabulary first by writing new words on the board for example and could then have named a few facts in a more structured way and more objectively so that the students could have made up their own opinion.
The positive aspect concerning the topic is that it is not artificial and everyone is concerned with it.
All in all, the teacher could have created a much more interesting and active lesson with ongoing interaction and not just teacher talking and learner trying to listen.
