Scandinavian auction, or the lowest unique bid auction - is a kind of the auction, where goods or services are offered for sale at minimal price.
Participants of the auction make bids with a fixed step. For the each bid participant pays appointed fee. Length of the auction is set on the start, however, after each bid, the length is increasing on the appointed value. The winner is a participant with the last bid.
In the Russia these auctions are new enough. But in Europe it is very popular.
Amidst internet-users internet-auctions are very popular, in this kind of the game player makes a bid with sms-message. (but for that he has to be logged in on the site). For the participation it is enough to send a message on the short number with a lot identificator. after making a bid with the aid of sms, the player increases the price at the appointed by the rules value. On these auctions a down-counter is exist. if the intended for bid period is over, the last bidder will take the lot.
The appearence of such auctions made a sensation in the internet-area. There are a lot of opponents, asserting the use of so called bots (pseudo-players) that make it impossible to win while the price isn't covered by the bids, and defenders, allowing that inspite of the use of the bot-bidders, chance to win an expensive thing at the 10% of its price is very high.
