In recent years, tourism has become a billion dollars industry for
many countries around the world. Tourists can help to gain
a lot of benefits, but they also go with the downsides that
badly infuence the local cultures and environment of these countries.

When there are more foreign tourists, local people tend to talk, trade and
make friend with them. After a long time, many things from the cultures of
tourists will assure to affect on local residents and make them lose
the features of their own cultures. Tourist can help to preserve the local cultures
by taking part in many local cultural activites.
In the developement of tourism, there are many bars, night clubs, gambling center,
etc. built to serve the entertainment demand of tourist.
As a consequence, this raises a lot of moral social problems
such as robbery, illegal gambling, prostitution.
But these problems will be solved easier with the help from tourists.
The tourist just need to obey the local rules and don't engage in any illegal activities.
Tourism also generate bad effects on environment. Many travel companies takes lands
which are the habitats for many plants and animals, even endangered species,
to build tourist facilities. These ations apperantly destroy the natural environment.
To protect the environment, tourists should boycott travel packages from any travel
company which has environmental issues. Mass of tourist don't have environmental
consciousness. After visiting and playing at tourist sites, they often litter
with papers, plastic bags, etc. Tourists had better to improve their own awareness of
protecting environment, starts with a small action - do not litter when travel.
In conclusion, there is no doubt about the benefits of tourism, but the tourists also
bring many negative effects to local areas. In my view, the main responsibility for
get rid of these downsides is belong to local authorities, but tourists can still
contribute their proper actions to help with these problems.
