Protests in Khabarovsk don’t stop
The citizens can’t agree with the decision to fire Sergey Furgal, the governor of the Khabarovsk Krai. He is supposed to organize the murders of the local businessmen. The several demonstrations have already taken place to highlight the political character of this matter as protesting people think. Furgal is considered to be the people’s choice and he won the elections in 2018 with the impressive result.
The Khabarovsk citizens have been protesting already for two weeks. These events are organized almost every day. The biggest amount of the participants is observed on the weekends. As the different sources inform, from 10 to 100 thousand people participated in the last demonstration.
In accordance with the document that Vladimir Putin has signed on this week, Mikhail Degtyaryov has become a new governor of the Khabarovsk Krai. This decision didn’t stop the protests. Despite he is a member of the same party as Sergey Furgal, the Khabarovsk citizens are sure that Putin’s candidate is not the good choice at all. Degtyarov was born in Samara and he doesn’t know the local problems.
It is difficult to say how this situation will develop in the nearest future but not the citizens nor the government want to radicalize this protest so far. The strong emotional reaction to the Furgal’s arrest is believed to be the reason for these demonstrations thus some politics consider that the number of protests will soon rather decrease.
