Britain in ancient times was called by the Greeks "The Island of Tin". Even Aristotle asserted, that there was an island with lots of tin. Of course, the fact made an interest of many civilizations. And there were the Phoenicians, which wanted to get there immediately. It happened around 2500 BC, when they found a group of island. At that moment the territory of England has been already separated but it was really gradual process, which had started about 8000 BC. The land was really liked by Phoenicians, so they wanted to stay there. Actually who was the Phoenicians? What were they like? To answer this question, we have to analyse their personality. First of all, Phoenicians were skilled, advanced in some inventions people. In Phoenicia (where the were from) the culture was influenced by the Culture of Mediterranean region by far. It's known by many people, that the Alphabet of the Phoenicians had a narrow relationship with the Alphabet of Greeks. Today the territory of Phoenicia is occupied by many countries, such as Turkey, Egypt, Spain, Algeria, Greece, Israel and many others. The main employment activity was trade. As they were skilled famous metalworkers, Phoenicians traded with metal goods. The great Greek historian Herodotus (440 BC) wrote the following phrase:
'according to the Persians best informed in history, the Phoenicians began the quarrel. These people, who had formerly dwelt on the shores of the Raytheon Sea, having migrated to the Mediterranean and settled in the parts which they now inhabit, began at once, they say, to adventure on long voyages, freighting their vessels with the wares of Egypt and Assyria... ''
Today some archeologist assert, that the Phoenician society had it's disruption between 3200 B. C. and 1200 B. C. It would be very logical to suppose that no other, except this fact is the main reason of being settled on the territory of British islands. But from the last paragraph we admit, that there is probably one more reason. Now it was supposed like trade and some needs in metal raw materials. England was the excellent decision for Phoenicians as a new area of living and getting resources, so there appeared a new nation - Britons. Phoenicians were mixing with the islanders. They gave poor uneducated savages an experience of education, so the process of social development started to go much faster. It wood be right to say, that there appeared the English Nation. Today Cells are actually a mixture of the Phoenicians plus a "pre-Celtic" group. But people have been still discussing, who were real Britons' 'parents''... Etymology of the word 'Britons'' is interpreted differently. One of the way of interpretation is related to the Celtic birth, which means ''motley'' or 'multistoried''. This version is worth to exist, because the islander savages were really coloring their bodies in different ways. The second way of interpretation is related with the name of picks, which sounded like Preyed. This version is worth to exists too because history says, that the Phoenicians invaded England in 1103 B. C. and when they arrived they found England to be inhabited by the Picks. Picks had really global meaning for England in history. We will meet them next... One of the most important points in history of English civilization beginning is a Cornwall. Only there was an enormously lots of tin. The Phoenicians found this place. Unfortunately scientist know not so many facts about ancient history. But in XIX century the interest to the history of ancient Cornwall began to increase. It was related with that in Westminster palace in 1840 archeologists found some frescoes, which were standing in parallel. One of them showed the first Phoenicians, introducing themselves to islanders. The second fresco was in parallel near the first, showed the Captain James Cook, who was standing with the Tahitants. Both of those frescoes were about getting and giving an experience to the local people. The new invention encouraged scientists not to give up and go on in their research. So that way was appeared the Phoenician legend...
